Why, oh why do the holidays have to correspond with the end of the fiscal year? First BusinessWeek laid off approximately 60 employees last week -- many of them closer to home than first thought -- then Time Inc. fired 105 of its highest paid employees in order to get their salaries off the books. (Now that's a trend we can get behind.)
