It's tempting to read more -- much, much more -- into the massdefections from Gawker last weekend, especially the idea that their departure (and publisher Nick Denton's defiant stance that the site is about to become much, much more commercial) heralds the moment when even "outsider" bloggers become just another mass medium churning out page views to generate advertising inventory.
