Anderson Explains What He Means By FreeWhat are you doing this weekend? Watching re-runs of CSI? How about this instead: It's Wired editor Chris Anderson unpacking all this hoopla about the business of "Free" at a Google Talk in DC earlier this week. Yes, it's about an hour long. But just kick back, enjoy some nachos, and who knows, you might learn something interesting. (Or have a better arsenal from which to argue why he's wrong.) More Phone Apps Mean Less Quality Time with the Daily RagIt seems obvious, but it's always good to have data to back these things up: A new study shows that the more time people spend on their app-enabled phones (like the iPhone), the less time they spend with newspapers. The study, by Chicago-based innovation consultancy gravitytank, polled about 800 smartphone users, including about 300 with app-enabled phones. Among other findings, people with apps spend about 24% less time reading the newspaper than those without. Two lessons news organizations can draw from this? gravitytank // Apps Get Real from Teaque Lenahan on Vimeo. (H/t MediaMemo) Previously |
