The San Francisco Peninsula Press Club points out that the Chronicle now lists the San Jose Mercury News -- or at least its Twitter feed -- as a "contributor."

The Hokubei Mainichi Newspaper announced that it would become the second local Japanese newspaper (following the Nichi Bei Times) to close in two months. CEO Don Yamate broke the news in a letter to readers. (Via SFPC.)

TechCrunch reports that as of Friday's close, Google was worth exactly as much as Apple (and vice versa) -- or at least they had the same market cap of $170 billion.
