As reported in Ben Fong-Torres Radio Waves column in Sunday's Chronicle, KNGY (Energy 92.7 FM) has been sold for pennies on the dollar. The gay-themed dance format had a solid audience, but seems to be a product of the recession. The station was sold for $6.5 million, after being purchased five years ago for $33.7 million.
San Francisco-based Scribd, the "YouTube for documents," in which users can upload and share text files, saw a 48-percent dip in traffic -- from 58.3 million monthly visitors to 30.1 million -- since June.
The Chronicle has launched a billboard campaign in Muni stations, labeling itself "Essential news with a Bay Area perspective." Beyond Chron isn't so sure.
