EveryBlock calls itself a "geographic filter," automatically gathering information from diverse sources about specific neighborhoods, including many in San Francisco. It was funded by a two-year grant from the Knight Foundation. The terms of the grant, which just came to an end, requires the company to share the source code.

In the meantime, EveryBlock founder Adrian Holovaty says the project will continue as a private company.
