I wouldn't wait around forever, whatever you do... Time = money. Another thought: phone your once-removed friend/contact to get that contact number or email. Good luck, Sheila |

| can't say | Posted – 3/19/2005 1:06:43 PM | show profile I usually say, ''I'm writing to you at the suggestion of firstname lastname, who is a something or other at your magazine.'' If it's a friend of a friend situation, you don't have to include all of that info if it makes you sound goofy (''...who is a cousin of my roommate's dry cleaner...''). If you get called in for an interview you can explain all that. Just make certain that the person you're naming knows exactly who you are. |

If it's just the friend of a friend, ask your friend to give you that friend's contact info. Most people I know wouldn't mind someone contacting them and saying, ''I heard from ____ that your company is hiring, and I'm extremely interested, so I'm wondering if you could give me a few more details.'' |
