I heard about a job through a chain of different people and want to send my resume via email. What is the best way to go about doing this?

hurry
Traveler:

I take it you don't the hiring editor's email eh? I'd phone them if you can and get it, right? I wouldn't wait around forever, whatever you do...

Time = money.

Another thought: phone your once-removed friend/contact to get that contact number or email.

Good luck,
Sheila

I have the person's email address. I was also told not to call her because she hates the phone. Just not sure how to start out the email.

I usually say, ''I'm writing to you at the suggestion of firstname lastname, who is a something or other at your magazine.''

If it's a friend of a friend situation, you don't have to include all of that info if it makes you sound goofy (''...who is a cousin of my roommate's dry cleaner...'').

If you get called in for an interview you can explain all that. Just make certain that the person you're naming knows exactly who you are.

And be sure you have permission to use the person's name. That's critical. Never drop a name unless the person has said it's ok. Just ask, ''Do you mind if I use your name?''

I would see if you can get in contact with the person at the end of the chain. If it's just the friend of a friend, ask your friend to give you that friend's contact info. Most people I know wouldn't mind someone contacting them and saying, ''I heard from ____ that your company is hiring, and I'm extremely interested, so I'm wondering if you could give me a few more details.''
