I have several years of experience in an array of communications and journalism, from being an online producer at a television station to being a lifestyle and entertainment reporter at a weekly magazine, and from being a public information officer at a state agency to being a communications director at a university.

I feel as though my experiences, talent and potential as a business person translates into at least seriously considering striking out on my own.

What are some tips, suggestions, pitfalls and strategies in doing this?

Advice on Starting PR/Copywriting Business
The first thing to do ItGirl is read The Well Fed Writer by Peter Bowerman and then read Back For Seconds by Peter Bowerman. These two books will teach you everything about starting a copywriting business. I've just finished reading both and highly reccomended them for writers who want to become business owners. Good Luck with everything!
