I spent the seventies glued to the tv screen watching his antics and then much of the 80's doing the same when the show went into syndication, and he was great in 8 Simple Rules. Maybe I haven't paid much attention before to how many celebrities die a year, but could 2003 (not to be morbid) be the year of death? While it was sad to see them pass on, the likes of Kate Hepburn, Bob Hope, Charles Bronson, Johnny Cash, Mr. Rogers, Buddy Ebsen, Buddy Hackett, Hume Cronyn, Gregory Peck, and David Brinkley lived long full lives. But when relatively young people like Gregpry Hines, Nell Carter, John Ritter, and Barry White start to go it just makes you wonder what the hell is going on? So this is my morning rant. Is it just mean or have their been an inordinate number of deaths this year? |
| nekalit | Posted 9/12/2003 1:13:32 PM | show profile Celeb Deaths What was with Gawker calling John Ritter the "uncoolest celebrity of all time". Talk about "uncool". I never walked around with an "I love John Ritter show", but that was very rude. I usually think gawker is funny but speaking ill of the deceased is just wrong (especially if they're not "evil"). Some wanna-be cool 20-somethings were actually saddened by the death of a man that is around their parents age. I know she's not a celeb but I was saddened by Anna Lindh's death and I never even heard about her before she was stabbed. She had two kids... That's sad. I hear about politicians in other countries getting killed a lot, so I wonder why my reaction differed because of her death. What causes such different reactions to deaths? |
