| nascent | Posted 1/25/2005 6:24:15 PM | show profile oops sorry for not being clear... As a writer, EA any entry level position related to writing |
| Jen480 | Posted 1/25/2005 6:42:24 PM | show profile Good question. I never see any postings on journo sites about openings for EAs at Time, Newsweek, etc. If anyone knows, I'd like to be informed too! |
| can't say | Posted 1/25/2005 7:19:37 PM | show profile Although these jobs don't come up very often (I'm speaking of Time specifically), you can occasionally find one in the Careers section of timewarner.com. The position you're probably interested in is Reporter/Researcher. I did see one a couple of months ago. However, I'm sure these openings elicit hundreds of resumes. So, as usual, networking is the best way to get in. It seems to me (I don't know for sure) that newspaper experience would be valuable. There's a position posted now for Editorial Assistant on timewarner.com. It doesn't say what magazine, and the position sounds mostly administrative. But it might be a great jumping-off point. And I do see bylines from the Time EAs every once in a while. |
| nascent | Posted 1/26/2005 2:03:33 PM | show profile i think they are plum jobs for people coming from newspapers and most of it is word of mouth.. but we will see.. time warner website is good but then again it is probably word of mouth is the best bet |
| Jen480 | Posted 1/26/2005 2:21:25 PM | show profile Nascent: Do you mean to say that I'd have better luck getting a job @ a newsweekly if I was a newspaper reporter, as opposed to a magazine EA? |
| canasta | Posted 1/26/2005 3:03:22 PM | show profile Try Forbes Not hard news, but well-respected biz pub, great writing, and they look for new grads all the time...especially EAs, fact-checkers, etc. The Economist is tough, as it is London-based and occupies very little U.S. office space. |
