I heard the editor of Modern Love always gets back on submissions, whether he wants to publish or not. Has anyone submitted and not heard anything back other than the automatic response? What other essay opportunities are out there?

They do send a response after sending the automatic response...it takes about a month. What's the basic theme of your essay? I'll think of a couple of markets...

Thanks, it's been 3 weeks today since I submitted. I guess I just have some more waiting to do before my inevitable rejection. If anyone had any luck with an acceptance, would love to hear about it such as time between acceptance and publication, editing process, etc.

Modern Love
I had an essay published in Modern Love toward the end of last year. It took about 10 days for the editor to get back to me, four or five days for the editing process, then another two weeks before publication.

Good Luck

no response here
I've submitted three pieces to 'em, and never got anything but the standard "We regret..." after eons.

They've bought 6 of my first-person articles for other sections, though, so try, try again, I reckon!

Hey, jmax, I have a first person piece (about having been mugged) I'd like to send to them (obviously NOT for Modern Love) Trying to figure what section(s) to approach with it though. Anyone have suggestions (doesn't have to be for the NYT either)

NYT Modern Love submissions
Finding the email / address to actually submit work is a full time research job. Can anyone enlighten me as to where/how to submit a Modern Love piece? And/or a page with submission guidelines?

The best way to figure out what he wants is to read
the column regularly.

Which day?
Which day is Modern Love published? And which section?

Hubby usually takes the paper to work with him but I'd like to check this out!

Thanks!!

how-to guide

I wrote a how-to guide. So why aren't threads like this obsolete?

I have a quirky essay that might be good for either Modern Love OR True Life Tales, but I can't find an e-mail address for the latter. Do I just send an email to the editor (I know who it is) at the NY Times or the other e-mail addy I see he has?

Please feel free to e-mail me.
