They have a job listing on this site, and its quite misleading. They claim that the pay is competitive which I assumed means they pay well. They called me yesterday for an interview and basically told me the pay is under $30K and so I decided not to meet with them. If they pay less than $30K then they should make that clear!!

You'll summon more righteous outrage if you specify what the job was, and what you think it should pay.

Not to mention, competitive means they pay what everyone else pays!

My mistake!! I thought competitive meant the pay a little better than the rest.

competitive for agency jobs means more than 23K
yes I do wish posting companies would put their salary ranges in -- particularly for entry-level positions. It would no doubt save a lot of effort on both sides.

Agencies pay poorly -- largely because they only want trust-fund kids. It is the nature of the business.

Competitive does indeed mean on par with what others pay, in such situations. Really, they could rephrase it "respectable" and that would make sense.

Doesn't sound right, does it -- competitive should mean they want to BEAT the others.
