Two questions:

I'm interested in writing one of those celebrity biographies you see in the teen section at Barnes & Noble (specifically interested in doing a Ryan Seacrest book.) How does one go about entering this world? Same as any other nonfiction effort (query to editor then book proposal), or is there a simpler way to go about it as these are seemingly churned out at a pretty quick clip?

Also, I'm dying to write an erotica novel. Nothing too classy ... I'm thinking along the lines of those really trashy novels that are signed "by Anonymous". Anyone know of any decent/reputable publishers worth approaching?

FYI, I'm a pro freelancer with book credits and such, so credentials shouldn't be an issue. However, I've never written erotica. Have interviewed and written about a fair number of celebs though.

If you're a pro freelancer with book questions, it's a little surprising to me you need to ask these questions.

For the celebrity books:
1. Look for an agent who can hook you up with publishers who farm these things out.
2. Contact the editors of the celebrity books directly and say you'd like to be considered.
3. Put a book proposal together.

For erotica:

Not my field, but just go to Borders and look in the erotica section for the publishers of those books.
