Hi all,

I'm looking for a class on ProTools here in New York. Any recommendations? Also, how much do you suspect such a class would cost?

Thanks all!

I understand that NYU used to have an intensive training program. But I can't seem to find it anywhere online. If anyone happens to know anything, please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks, Weller. Would such a course be in the Dept. of Music? I think I'd be better served taking a full semester rather than doing an intensive course.

Do you know if New School offers a full semster in the fall? Or if you know of other schools, like Brooklyn College, Pratt, NYU, Columbia, whatever, doesn't matter, I just need to find take this class.

Hi Domestic
Are you in NY? Digidesign, the makers of Pro Tools, offers courses taught by certified instructors; there are facilities around the globe. They're really expensive, though, and I'm hesitant to take an immersion course just to find out that I've forgotten everything once on the job. On the other hand, seems I have no choice. I emailed about 12 or 13 different academic institutions, from NY to Maine (and incidentally I emailed Mediabistro to find out if they're offering a course this winter. They said to check back in a few months).

If money is no object for you, check out the Digidesign website. It's about $1300 for a 3-day session. I have to be pretty proficient by the time I complete my course, so I think I'm going to invest in several courses, ranging from beginners to advanced.

But if you hear of something cheaper, please do be in touch.

Good luck to you.

Hi Domestic
Found it! Weller was right: The New School's Guitar Study Center offers two Pro Tools courses, levels I and II. They run about $600 each. First course begins in Sept. They allow only 8 students per session, so you might want to sign up soon.

Good luck
