GalleyCat blogger Sarah Weinman, covering the recent Google publishing conference, thinks one model can't "be applicable for education, science/technology/medicine, non-fiction and fiction. ... Google Book Search is brilliant for some sectors and iffy for some, and to offer a blanket approach is ultimately pointless."

Do you agree? Is the book industry in trouble? Should they offer their wares for free on the Web? Are authors smart to go off on their own?
