In most states, if you're operating a business in a name other than your own -- even if it's just a sole proprietorship -- you need to get a business license. Often, this is done through your county clerk. That involves nothing more than filling out a form from a legal stationary provider like Blumberg, having it notarized and filed. Check your main state government Web site.
