I have an interview for a corporate pr position this week... I am a little nervous about the transition from running my own company to going corporate.

I have been sort of passively looking for some time now, and think I have found an industry that's a good fit for me. I think the company is too (I found out about the job via a press contact I have who put in a good word for me and told me a good amt about the culture and the people I would be working with), but I will be able to make a more informed decision after the interview.

I am wondering if anyone else did the transition from indie to corporate and how it worked out. Did you find it hard when you were answering to a boss again? Did it turn out to be something different than you expected, good or bad? Are you happy you made the transition and are finding there are more pros than cons?

And, finally, I have not interviewed in like 10 years! Of course, I have done new business meetings, etc, which never felt like interviews but I suppose they were in a way. But are their any questions I should anticipate about closing down my company to go corporate? I feel terribly rusty!

I welcome any and all advice!

Hi Sleepyhead.
For the interview, all they really care about is that you understand the current market and have had a lot of success in getting your clients press. (make sure to bring your portfolio with you.) More importantly, they'll want to know if you can bring an clients with you. They also may ask you how you deal with nutty clients, juggle workloads and delegate. Ok, here's what will drive you crazy about the job: getting 100 emails a day, all of which need your attention. And having to attend 3 meetings a day, where nothing is ever accomplished. But you'll love the money and will likely be amazed at the databases and software most PR firms have available these days. Good luck! Mari
