I'm looking to move from my current job, and I'm frustrated by the lack of senior jobs that seem to be available. Also, my experience is limited to one pub, and our shipping schedule and overtime situation is a nightmare, so I'm wondering if all are like that, and how to know what I'm getting into when I do go somewhere else. Finally, I'm looking to move from the consumer mag business into news, but I don't know how to go about that. Can you move from copy editing at a mag to a newspaper? What are the pros and cons? What's it like at the newsweeklies? Any feedback would be appreciated . . . |

Newspaper generally doesn't pay as well as some others, but it depends on the outlet. Mediabistro had a salary survey on here somewhere, I think ... might check it out. |
