I hope this question isn't too basic, but I'm seeking contacts for quotes from high profile people for a project I'm doing. I know there is a Bacon's guide for editors, but is there a similar guide for publicists? This project will provide good publicity for those being quoted, but where do I find their publicists (I'm assuming you can't get to celebs, directly).

Thanks for your help

ProfNet
If you register as a journalist on PR Newswire, you can post a request on ProfNet. It's where a number of PR agencies have signed up to recieve requests for experts (on anything, not just academic subjects) from credentialed writers. It's a jewel.

You might want to take a look at former MB threads on whorepresents.com. While they used to be a great website, the service has paled in the past year; waaaay out of date listings, difficulty with the website, payments requested through PayPal, etc.

Also, since you don't give specific information on the kinds of people you're looking for, it's difficult to direct you. For example, politicians, musicans, sports figures, etc. won't be part of whorepresents.com. Niether will business leaders. You're actually better off figuring out who you want and then going after each individual directly, either through their office (politician or business leader), publishing house (author or someone who's published a memoir), publicist (television or movie type), sports manager or team management office for a sports figure, etc.

Again, thanks for the suggestions, they're really helpful (and I know you're all busy doing other, more important things so I appreciate this advice even more).

I will check out the other sources. Since you asked, I'm mostly seeking experts in the fields of fashion, beauty and fitness, but it would be helpful to the project to have at least some "recognizeable" individuals (both female and male) who are not in these fields, but who have "celebrity." I'd love to get some politicians, some athletes, and perhaps even an astronaut (if you get my drfit...)
