| mlcpr | Posted 4/22/2007 3:18:54 AM | show profile | email poster Fashion PR I would advise you to have a red carpet launch party... it would help secure the most press in one shot. ------ Mona Loring MLC PR www.monaloring.com |
| Magazine Mania | Posted 4/22/2007 10:18:47 AM | show profile Mona - I definately think that's a possibility (red carpet), bu I'm still trying to get a feel for the target audience that might appreciate this designers's work. It's not neccessarily clothing that I would wear, so I'm still doing my "research." What do you charge for a media kit on average? |
| marianna | Posted 4/22/2007 5:40:53 PM | show profile Hi Fashion PR, What city is this designer based in? Has he/she sold any of his/her stuff to stores, or is that the next step? Also, did this person go to a fashion or design school--sometimes the school will be willing to help alumni M |
| Magazine Mania | Posted 4/22/2007 9:47:22 PM | show profile Marianna - the client operates out of Florida. She has not gone to school - just pursued a dream (although she is looking to go to school for fashion design at some point). No clothing has been sold to stores yet - still in the infancy stage of the clothing line. |
| marianna | Posted 4/30/2007 9:15:22 PM | show profile Hmmm. I have no idea how to approach stores but depending on how much time & money your client has, I do have a few ideas about drawing attention to her designs. First, she should probably get a website and myspace page set up in order to generate some sales. THAT should keep her busy. Its difficult to get media attention if her clothes aren't yet available for sale... Next, she might volunteer to design uniforms for some trendy restaurant or hotel in the area. Also independent films or local bands. (Then you can send out a press release announcing the fact.) Then she can hold a mini-fashion show at this same hotel or restaurant. Local and state press can be invited--pull in some interesting sponsors to make the event more intriguing. Finally, figure out who the local "celebs" are and cut some deal: free clothes to wear at events if they'll talk her up. Good luck! |
