| kaceclosed | Posted 4/30/2007 7:11:34 PM | show profile About how long after they accept something and everything is OKayed should you expect to get paid on average? Thanks! |
| recovering_jersey_girl | Posted 5/1/2007 10:13:00 AM | show profile I was told it takes longer the first time b/c they have to set you up as a new vendor, etc...They told me it would take roughly 30 days to do this, but I wound up getting paid sooner. Time Inc., though, took *forever* getting my vendor acct set up. |
| kaceclosed | Posted 5/1/2007 11:41:50 PM | show profile urgh--thanks! I am moving on Fri and would LOVE to get this check asap. blargh. |
| eriksherman | Posted 5/2/2007 8:25:09 AM | show profile | email poster You can also check with accounts payable there and ask how long it usually takes to get a check. While on the phone, check to make sure that they have all the paperwork they need from you. I generally do that and have found at times that the accounting department didn't have an invoice or a signed tax form, so was able to head off a lot of frustration. ------ Free writer resources: http://www.eriksherman.com/WriterBiz |
| kaceclosed | Posted 5/2/2007 10:54:31 PM | show profile I didn't sign anything--I submitted an essay on spec, it was accepted, I was given how much they would pay, I was asked for my social and that was it--should there be more? |

| ZooZooB | Posted 5/2/2007 11:44:59 PM | show profile Hijacking your post. Just curious which Conde Nast publication accepted an essay on spec. I'm sending my essays out and looking for additional markets. Thanks and hope you get paid soon. |
| eriksherman | Posted 5/3/2007 7:47:15 AM | show profile | email poster First, congrats. Were I you, I'd still send (by email) an invoice dated for when you got word that it was accepted. If they say you don't need to, say it's no problem and that you need it for your records. Now you've got an official trail should there be any question. Still check with accounts payable about how long it takes so you know and you aren't spending unnecessary time wondering. ------ Free writer resources: http://www.eriksherman.com/WriterBiz |
