| EVillBabe | Posted 5/2/2007 3:36:23 PM | show profile | email poster I'm new to book reviewing and would like to know what I should request from publicists. Up until now, I was only familiar with a galleys, but just saw that some presses also offer review copies. Enlighten me please. ------ Many thanks, Carol |

| f-dog | Posted 5/4/2007 10:46:50 PM | show profile A galley is printed before the finished book is ready and it is printed out of the page proofs of the book. It's like a cheap paperback version of the book that is designed for long-lead media. It usually comes out three to four months or more before the actual book. A review copy is the actual book itself. The galley is important if you need the extra time to read and review the book so that the review can run at publication time so if you're reviewing for a long lead publication (like a monthly or a major newspaper) than you should request galleys. |
