My advice would be to seek out internship opportunites in the area in which you would like to work. Most are unpaid; therefore, if you are looking for pay at the onset, this may not be the field for you. Experience and who you know - relationships- are key in this business. Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback, yea I'm definitly not looking for a paid internship as I realized it's the experience that matters most. Do you think there's a specific "right time" to start looking? Meaning school wise, should I be waiting until I reach a certain level to get an internship?

I know for me it was written into our curriculum, where we did internships for two semesters in my sophomore year, and we had to do a more extensive one the summer of our senior year. If it is not written into your curriculum then I would go for the summer between my junior and senior year so that you can possibly walk into a job. Good Luck!

From everything I've heard, internships are great ways to shore up your understanding of the industry, get your feet wet, learn humbly and demonstrate some initiative.

I've also heard people say don't count on them to get you a job later, although you may make some good contacts, so keep that in mind.
