I. Lewis Libby's ubiquitous smirk was reported missing on June 4, 2007, the same day the former Bush administration aide was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison for lying numerous times in a federal investigation.

While some have been reporting a rise in smirk sightings around Condelezza Rice, Entertainment Tonight reports that that smirk has resulted from Rice's increasing consumption of news about TomKat and Bradjolina. One unnamed source blames Rice's growing smirk on her heavy travel schedule. "She just does not have time anymore to sing Christian hymns with John Ashcroft and George Bush at the White," says the staffer. She's okay, but just slightly adrift.

Meanwhile the police manhunt for I. Lewis Libby's smirk is expanding beyond DC into Maryland and Virginia. All the letters of support from Libby's friends that he should receive no jail time for his crime are posted at TheSmokinggun.com. The general sentiment is that I. Lewis Libby is a nice guy, so he shouldn't serve time. Meanwhile the 2 million-plus people in U.S. jails and prisons obviously are bad people who still candy from children.

Lewis Libby's smirk was able to withstand the day the media dropped the haughty "I" from the front of his name. It's gone now though.

A nation mourns.

I can't stop crying. First Paris and now Scooter, I tell it is more than I can take. Who will lead us in coy smirks and arrogant nods?
