| CurvyGurl | Posted 6/6/2007 2:40:42 PM | show profile | email poster Is menopause affecting your marriage? We are looking for a couple where the wife is going through menopause and it is driving the man crazy. Further, she is frustrated with his lack of compassion for her situation and it is driving a wedge in to the relationship. This is for a TV segment airing at the end of June. Please email me for more information! |
| DHernandez | Posted 6/6/2007 5:44:18 PM | show profile I sure hope your TV segment addresses non-stereotypical menopause, as well. Too many women and men fear that all women become suffering, raging, regretful bitches during menopause because media present menopause this way, and it simply isn't so. |
| scribechick | Posted 6/6/2007 5:56:05 PM | show profile Well, not ALL women become "suffering, raging, regretful bitches" but as a health author and baby boomer I must admit that peripaws, menopaws, and postpaws does have its ups and downs. And no, it's not a piece of cake for all. Hot flashes, mood swings and high anxiety can and does affect countless women due to out of whack hormones. But that is not to say that natural remedies, from soy, a vegan diet, and exercise, exercise, exercise can help women chill and be human again. |
| Righter | Posted 6/6/2007 6:23:26 PM | show profile interesting...rather than simply looking for menopausal women, and THEN finding out what they're going through and how it affects their relationships, it seems you're looking for someone to fit into your idea of what their experience is. I hope you're also looking into the other side of it, otherwise it's the same as, in an article, only using quotes that would contribute to the writer's perceptions instead of letting the story develop on its own. |
| CurvyGurl | Posted 6/6/2007 7:18:16 PM | show profile | email poster Thanks for the great feedback -- keep it coming all! This is great everyone, and I really appreciate your feedback! As for "fitting into a segment," (per righter's post) it's just a thought that one of the producers had! We haven't fully fleshed it out yet, so everyone's feedback is great. I like the idea using some of the segment to showcase that in actuality, it doesn't always morph into an excruciating experience as the media often portrays (thanks belinda and scribechick). I'll definitely present that tomorrow. Also, I'd love to hear more about your thoughts on diet, scribechick, if you want to send me an email so we can communicate more on the topic. Thanks again on all. Great stuff. |
