I am working for a small American publication about education. I have Ph.D. in linguistics (from non-American university) + M.A. in journalism from a reputable American school of journalism. In my country I taught at the university for many years.

Could anybody give me any advice how I can find some freelance job writing about education? I am located closely to the Capitol Hill and visit often different meetings there, hearings. I can write about policies in American education and about international education.

I know that www.edit911.com only hires PhDs for their freelance editing staff. They might also need freelance writers. Good luck!

Link to magazine list
I found this link:

http://www.world-newspapers.com/education.html

The list is not exhaustive but it is a good start. Plus now is the
time to pitch to magazines/newspapers who are preparing
their "education editions" in the fall.

Can you write about "gifted" education? It's pretty hot right
now.

chronicles of higher education
You can always write an op-ed for the Chronicles of Higher Education. They pay about $200, if I recall, and if you get your piece accepted, you might try pitching them other articles.

Good luck.
