When someone submits a resume/cover ltr for consideration that has all of the relevant experiece you are looking for, but that experience is in a different field (a field where there is some media cross-over with various editors and reporters, but not a whole lot), do you completely disregard the candidate, or would you consider the person? I know a lot more goes into the decision and it is not so simple, but I was hoping for some insight into the hiring process. I recently interviewed for a position that was a perfect match except for the industry (and while I thought there was plenty of cross-over with my own experience, the VP was insistant that it was not a match because I have no retail pr experience). Thanks for any advice... |
