I've recently launched a Hamptons web site and am getting a lot of calls from various businesses asking if we cover editorial. I'd like to have some editorial on the site but can't pay for editorial at the moment as my site isn't generating revenue yet as it was just launched. Do editorial writers work in trade? If so, what are they looking for? What can I offer? How do I find editorial writers? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Danielle@SoireeEventsUsa.com

This sounds fun! Who will be the editor of your website? What will you plan to pay the writers? What kind of editorial will you publish?

You might put the website here for us to check out.

No pay?

I suppose if you could wrangle someone a free weekend in the hamptons (hotel, meals, etc.), you'd probably get a few takers. If you can't swing that, then it's doubtful you have enough juice in the hamptons to make the thing fly, anyway.

I live in Southampton year round and wish you the best of luck Danielle. I'm sure you know, there are loads of Hampton websites that come and go each season.

My days of writing for free are long gone, but I do wish you luck!

If it's actually an online magazine as your title suggests, you would do well to invest in editorial, unless you have the skillsets and time to do it all yourself. The sites that pop up with crap disappear quickly.
