| dtodd | Posted 6/27/2007 10:04:36 AM | show profile | email poster Online media - seminar This isn't really specifically around how to handle the news media, but there is an online media conference coming to DC on July 12 called Online Marketing Summit. Since there's such a big overlap between online marketing and online media/PR outreach (the social media overlap, etc.), it's a good starting point to learn how to identify online media outlets that you *want* to talk to. link: http://regional.onlinemarketingsummit.com/venue/default.html It's a 10-city tour - I'm a speaker at the Chicago event, speaking about online PR and using search engine marketing tactics for news media penetration. |

The best way to be trained is to invest in a one-on-one course with one of the media trainers who can run through mock scenarios with you (taped). Most of the seminar offer PR 101 stuff that, although helpful, will probably not do the trick. All of the agencies offer this service but I'd recommend the personal touch with consultant and former reporter Scott Sobel. Contact him at: ssobel@macstrategies.com |
| bsalvin | Posted 7/4/2007 11:12:08 AM | show profile | email poster Media Training Course Practical media training should always include on-camera practice with feedback from the trainer. There are lots of great trainers out there. Big pr agencies can do this or you can get a trainer that works for themselves or have their own small firms. I own one of those small firms, so I'm partial to the latter. In addition to on-camera practice, your course should include communications fundamentals including audience analysis and message development. Check out www.signalbridge.com. Good luck. |
| JLavin | Posted 7/6/2007 12:01:11 PM | show profile | email poster Media Training Course Hello - I do one-on-one or small group media training. there are very few one-day seminars, because media training is very interactive and best done with a limited number participants. I work with several investment banks and am a former journalist. If you are interested, please feel free to contact me at jlavin54@hotmail.com Regards, Jean |
