I didn't see it in a quick skim, so I'm hoping someone can help.... I'm transitioning from staff to freelance marketing/PR at a small publishing company, and I'm trying to figure out what rate I should put forward for press releases and book announcement. My previous hourly wage was pretty darned low, and given that I won't be getting paid vacation anymore, I'd like to be making more than that. Should I go with hourly, or just take a decent hourly, estimate how long a release takes to write, and quote them a per-piece rate (with stipulations about rewrites, etc)? They know my work, and I know their product, so it's not like these pieces are unknown quantities, on either side. All advice appreciated. Thanks! Marina |
