I'm on the Board of SEMPO, the Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization, and we're reaching out to freelance writers who may be doing SEO and search advertising as consultants.

We're a global organization, just 4 years old, with over 600 member companies representing thousands of search marketers in 23 countries.

One of the unadvertised benefits of joining the organization is that people email our website all the time asking for bids on doing SEO and PPC campaigns. We finally set up a form to let them send an RFP to the membership, which essentially is a free stream of sales leads (well, membership to SEMPO isn't free so I guess that's incorrect - but we have individual memberships for $299 so that's still pretty damn cheap).

It's a really good deal for freelancers and independent consultants because many of the leads have a fairly low budget, so the bigger agencies won't touch them. And if you're just starting out in SEM, we recommend you contact some of the small businesses that write to us and ask them about doing a trade of services so that you can build your experience.

Just thought you should know! Here's the site: www.sempo.org
