| wineaux | Posted 6/28/2007 11:26:35 AM | show profile 1. What are your plans for the Fourth of July? I'm going to the Adirondacks and staying at a friend's place. Bike riding, hiking, lake fun and some all-American cocktails. (Would a Mojito fit into that category?) 2. Is it o.k. to eat strawberries from a pack that contains some berries with mold on them? It's not the type of mold that is toxic and harmful to people. It's more like the mold that penicillian derives from. Just dump the berries with mold on them, and wash the other mold free berries carefully in cold water and dry carefully with a paper towel. Mold spores, particularly on blackberries, spread like wildfire, so it's best to wash them as soon as you get them home, and transfer them to a container that isn't as damp an atmosphere as those little plastic contaners can be. That was probably far more information than you wanted. Sorry, I can't help myself. 3. What is troubling you most at the moment? The housing market. 4. What would be the best thing that could happen to you in the next 24 hours? To hear that my dear friend no longer has pancreatic cancer and will live to see his daughter grow up. 5. Do you like your name, and, if not, what name would you choose for yourself? My name's pretty cool. 6. If you have a partner/spouse, are you truly in love with them at this very moment? I am very much in love. 7. Who do you hope is thinking about you right now? Him 8. Do you believe in ghosts? Absolutely! I've got some great experiences 9. Will you ever be famous? Doubtfully 10. What makes you laugh so hard that milk shoots out of your nose? Watching my dog try and retrieve my children from the ocean. He thinks if they are in the waves they need to be rescued, so he tries to get them by the seat of their pants and drag them to shore. Hours of fun. |

| wineaux | Posted 6/28/2007 11:31:04 AM | show profile sorry for the double post. I thought the first didn't take. |
| Righter | Posted 6/28/2007 11:41:02 AM | show profile I like random thursdays so I'll go first. That and I should be working and I tend to procrastinate... 1. Fourth of July, having a bbq at my cousin's house with the fam, friends, etc. Going in the pool. Most likely no fireworks but as long as there's burgers!!! 2. Ok to eat the ones that haven't gotten infected yet! Like the ones at the very very top, though I'm sure people a little more squirmish than me would disagree. 3. Troubling me right now is the fact that I have a July 1 deadline that I thought was on Monday when in fact June has only 30 days, so that makes my deadline Sunday. And I"m going out of town for the weekend, which makes it tomorrow. I don't know how I thought it was only 30 days. I think when you work in mags too much your sense of time gets warped because even though we're in June now I'm working on things for August, Sept and beyond. 4. Next 24 hours? To be honest I'm quite content right now. What a boring answer though. Now if it was in the next six months...I'd have plenty to say... 5. I love my name, though it tends to get butchered by people who can't pronounce it. Everyone in my family actually has cool names that no one can ever pronounce. But I love it so much that I'm not sure that I'll change it when I get married. 6. So very truly in love with my fiance. He's the only person that'll go along with my kookiness when I'm acting like a 5 year old and then brings it out even more in me. 7. That he misses me. Truthfully I'm more concerned about how his day at work is going than whether or not he's thinking about me this very moment. 8. Ghosts. That's a tough one. When I was little (the youngest of a bunch of cousins and siblings) they all swore they saw ghosts in the house but I never saw them. Now that we're all grown up they still talk about it like it happened and I kinda just nod and smile. Maybe I believe in spirits, not ghosts. I don't think they haunt people unless they were complete asses in life. 9. Oh god I hope so. Not too famous. Famous enough for people in certain circles to know my name, not famous enough to not have any privacy. You know, book famous :) 10. Um...I'd have to think about that one, and I just realized that I really don't have time to. These things are much more fun when you don't have other things you should be doing aren't they? Anyways, happy Thursday, Janet. |
| Janetblueyes | Posted 6/28/2007 12:07:34 PM | show profile In fairness, I should respond to my own questions. Here they be: 1. What are your plans for the Fourth of July? Read in my hammock; fish a little; try some self-tanner; perfect my Texas Hold'Em skills. 2. Is it o.k. to eat strawberries from a pack that contains some berries with mold on them? Not sure, which is why I asked. 3. What is troubling you most at the moment? The heat. I think I am suffering from the vapors. Also worried about the moldy strawberries I paid a fortune for. 4. What would be the best thing that could happen to you in the next 24 hours? A rollicking good thunderstorm. 5. Do you like your name, and, if not, what name would you choose for yourself? I would preferred to have been named "Cerridwhyn" after my Welsh aunt. I would select Nest as my last name. Cerridwhyn Nest sounds ravishingly intriguing. 6. If you have a partner/spouse, are you truly in love with them at this very moment? No. 7. Who do you hope is thinking about you right now? Chip. 8. Do you believe in ghosts? 100 percent 9. Will you ever be famous? I am in a weird home-town kind of way. 10. What makes you laugh so hard that milk shoots out of your nose? When someone farts loudly. It never fails to make me howl, no matter how immature it may seem. |
| writesonwater | Posted 6/28/2007 12:26:57 PM | show profile | email poster 1. What are your plans for the Fourth of July? Write and play at the lake. 2. Is it o.k. to eat strawberries from a pack that contains some berries with mold on them? Life is like a basket of strawberries. Dump the bad ones as soon as you can. 3. What is troubling you most at the moment? Getting my son up east to a market where he can use his computer skills to make a living. He was laid off in this small-town market and we're just a bit too far from a big city. 4. What would be the best thing that could happen to you in the next 24 hours? All the queries I sent out could come home to roost with perfectly aligned deadlines and delectable per-word rates. Or my son could get a job. Or a publisher could contact me about one of the two non-fiction books I'm working on and offer me a nice advance. 5. Do you like your name, and, if not, what name would you choose for yourself? I like it. I dumped my clunky maiden name long ago. 6. If you have a partner/spouse, are you truly in love with them at this very moment? Yes. He's pretty amazing. 7. Who do you hope is thinking about you right now? An executive from a place I'm wanting a job from. 8. Do you believe in ghosts? Yes. 9. Will you ever be famous? I have had some of that weird home-town fame in three places I've lived because of my media work -- I'm thinking there may be some author-type fame ahead. 10. What makes you laugh so hard that milk shoots out of your nose? My kids, who have inherited their mother's bizarre yet intelligent sense of humor. My siblings, great storytellers all. A couple of my friends. ~~~~~J~~~~~ |
| keltoi2 | Posted 6/28/2007 12:48:26 PM | show profile 1. What are your plans for the Fourth of July? BBQ with family, fireworks a few towns away. 2. Is it o.k. to eat strawberries from a pack that contains some berries with mold on them? Yup; toss the moldies, was the rest. 3. What is troubling you most at the moment? State of the country, the media, and the world, family member who makes bad choices, when my wife's house will finally sell so we can have only one house to worry about 4. What would be the best thing that could happen to you in the next 24 hours? Other than the daily seeing my wife, etc, probably hearing from our realtor that someone put in an offer on my wife's house. 5. Do you like your name, and, if not, what name would you choose for yourself? Never much liked my first name. Would have preferred Mike or Connor or something. 6. If you have a partner/spouse, are you truly in love with them at this very moment? Yes indeed. 7. Who do you hope is thinking about you right now? My wife and our realtor. 8. Do you believe in ghosts? Without a doubt. 9. Will you ever be famous? It's not a life goal per se, but I think I've got a shot. 10. What makes you laugh so hard that milk shoots out of your nose? Bugs Bunny, Pixar movies, certain brothers' jokes, occasionaly Jon Stewart. But milk never shoots out my nose. Happy 4th, all! Despite all my frequent venting over the state of our country today, it's still a great one. But it can always be better. ~~~~~J~~~~~ |
| GrOoVaL!c!OuS | Posted 6/28/2007 1:26:59 PM | show profile I wanna play! 1. No plans for July 4th yet. Probably will watch movies and veg out. 2. Yeah, just don't eat the bad ones. 3. How I'll be received at my high school reunion this weekend. 4. It'd be awesome if my boss got fired today. Freakin' awesome! 5. Not a big fan of my name. Would love to be named Quinn, Nia, Kai, or Noelle. 6. Not in love, but dude, I'd love to be. 7. Some guy who actually just might be thinking about me. 8. Ghosts? Nah 9. I don't want to be famous. But I do want to be acclaimed. There's a difference, right? 10. The scene in Meet the Parents when Ben Stiller's character tries to say grace. ("We are gathered here today...") I howl everytime I see this. |

| Janetblueyes | Posted 6/29/2007 8:37:48 PM | show profile I love you guys Thank you all for playing! Just when you think you are the only one who feels or acts a certain way, you find out that there are others who do the same. Like Hawk, I am touched, (and envious), by how many of you are really in love. At one point I would have been able to have answered "yes" as well. All you lovers out there have inspired me to take a hard look at why I am hanging onto something that has been dead for some time. Good fodder for idle weekend time. Want to play again next week? Random Thursday can be our new thing. Be safe this holiday and know that some random chick from the east end sends you all a virtual hug. ~~~~~~~~~~j~~~~~~~~~~~ |

| Nikongirl | Posted 7/12/2007 5:09:38 PM | show profile Better late than never..... >>>I'm touched by all the posters who are madly in love with their spouse. That's nice to hear, as I found it impossible to maintain. Kudos, Nikongirl, 38 years is an eternity....any relationship tips you'd care to share with the rest of us?<<< Yes, be kind to each other, treat each other with respect, show your affection - often, and for gwd's don't be rude to the person you love, don't talk to them like you hate them even if they piss you off. Be tolerant, forgiving and feel the joy in every day. Life is too short to sweat the smallstuff in a stupid power struggle. Oh.....and share the remote. ;-) |
| keltoi2 | Posted 7/12/2007 6:05:06 PM | show profile Good suggestions, nikon. I'd add another: think of your partner before yourself. When you're both following that rule, it's hard to go wrong. |
