I've edited a couple of chapbooks, but this is a much larger project (a memoir) and I'm lost on pricing. Is there anyone out there who does this on a regular basis? What do you charge? |

I'm not an expert, but having done some proofreading and minor copyediting of manuscripts in the past, I've charged by the hour, usually about $20-$25/hr on the low end. I know others that charge by the page, $2-$5 per. If you're doing more extensive editing services -- commenting on or outright changing the structure, tone, etc. -- then you would charge more. There's another thread on this topic that you might find helpful. http://www.mediabistro.com/bbs/cache/t32082_1.asp |
