When I e-mail a query to a magazine editor, do I just begin with Dear Ms./Mr. _______: or do I need to make it look like an actual letter with that person's name and address followed by the date followed by Dear Ms./Mr. _______? Thanks!

I just write "Dear Mr./Ms." or "Dear Firstname," depending on how well I know the editor. No business letter-style heading. I close it with "Regards/Cheers/whatever, Linda" and my phone number...no mailing address.

Hope that helps!

Linda

Thanks Linda! I'm actually reading your "Query Letters that Rock" book right now, which has convinced me to go the e-mail query route and am getting ready to sign up for your next class. I look forward to working with you!
