I pitched to a paper and they said "I think we'll be interested in one of two stories", but that the editor was waiting on another editor to chime in. It's been two weeks. How long should I wait to follow-up?

I don't want my ideas to get scooped elsewhere prior to their approval, so I'm trying to get the ball moving on these stories.

Sorry if the wording is confusing, I'm waiting to hear back on pitches and want to know what standard practice is for follow-ing up.

If there was ambiguous "yes/no/maybe" then I usually follow up in a week or two. Usually a reply with the previous e-mail where they said whatever pertinent thing.

If you don't get a yes after two weeks, then shop it elsewhere.
