| alyeditrix | Posted 7/10/2007 3:37:06 PM | show profile | email poster Hi all, I know this has been discussed before, but I can't find the old threads...how bad is the commute, truly, to Bauer? (For someone coming, via mass transit, from Brooklyn.) I've been approached about a freelance editing position there, and it would mean some late nights. |
| anewstart | Posted 7/23/2007 12:58:42 PM | show profile SUCKS. Not worth it. Company is completely unprofessional, and the commute blows. If you value your personal life, pass up the job. |
| cabaraba | Posted 7/23/2007 1:23:43 PM | show profile i agree For a past interview there, I took the train from Union Square, and it STILL took me over an hour! ridiculous. You get to George Washington Bridge, (again, relying on the scheduled train), then you have to take a special bus for a few miles. Only work there if you're already in Jersey! |
| getmeoutofhere | Posted 7/23/2007 2:35:19 PM | show profile i was also curious about this. they contacted me recently for a position as a freelance copy editor, just going out two or three times a week, perhaps... this would be coming from brooklyn, also. |
| taffy | Posted 7/23/2007 4:52:42 PM | show profile I commuted from Brooklyn... ...exactly once to Bauer before I started taking my car. In a car, it's 30 minutes, against traffic (I was coming from Flatbush). But the wait for the bus is 30 minutes alone, and Englewood Cliffs is right on the water, which means that waiting for that bus is REALLY cold in the winter. |
| Chamsah | Posted 7/23/2007 6:20:05 PM | show profile I drove it Bauer is less than 10 miles from my home in from Jersey and it took me 40 minutes. And this wasn't during rush hour. I can't imagine being anywhere near the bridge during before 9 am. If you are used to Cosi across the street and the Gap around the corner, you will have a tough time there. Bauer is located in an office park on a major highway. No car? Plan on paying a fortune for food since it's all delivery. Stepping out for fresh air means heading to the parking lot. It's a big change from Manhattan. |
| hawkmail | Posted 7/23/2007 10:28:00 PM | show profile I wonder if people have had the same experience doing the reverse commute to CNBC in Englewood Cliffs? They have a company shuttle. Of course, they're a huge company with great benefits and they pay more than Bauer, so maybe the hassle is worthwhile? |
