Writesonwater, you're in the DFW area? Which dealership did you go with, and what was your experience? I'm considering a new Honda (Civic, I think) and hate the dealership dance.

Get a used Honda Civic hatchback. Good on gas, runs forever.

If I could find a Kermit green 1996 Civic hatchback that hadn't been trashed, I'd snap it up in a second. I should've bought that car new, because I'm kicking myself for not having done so! What a great little car.

Stet, feel free to email me, I've activated my email thingy.

I had to go to extreme measures (and past at least three Honda dealerships) to get the Fit, because so many dealerships didn't have it, or only had manual transmission, or could order me one. The Fit's in short supply in a lot of places, and I needed to work quickly as my son was moving to the east coast and we were giving him our paid-for vehicle to use.

I've heard great things about the Civic. AutoNation on north 75 has a lot of lease returns, they struck me as a good place to get a used Honda. Also, Freeman Honda seemed to have a great inventory of used Honda, and Lute Riley seemed to also.

If you google Dallas Honda Dealerships, you should get a list of em and their websites. Then go to the websites and click on used inventory. Some will let you search by make, year, etc.

The Honda dealerships know their used cars, and won't hesitate to put a Certified label and warranty on the ones they trust.

If you like the Civic, you may want to do a side-by-side comparison (on Edmonds or one of those sites) with the Fit, which has more room and gets similar mileage, I've heard. It is economical because of the price, and is completely engulfed in airbags in case of impact, from the pics I see on the site.

I signed on to the boards at Edmonds to hear from other Fit drivers and wannabes, and I recommend it before you buy to avoid the extra costs salesmen try to tack on. (I just refused to pay them, fully prepared to walk out. That helped.)
