| croaky | Posted 7/10/2007 11:56:02 PM | show profile I have no idea why the earlier post goes straight to the job listings board. Grim joke. I did some freelance projects for Jane but hadn't been paid yet. The projects were accepted months ago but haven't run (and probably never will). I'm owed nearly $1500 for this work; to make matters worse, the contract I signed and returned was never sent back to me. Do I have any chance of getting paid? I called CN this morning but was sent to voice mail, which does not make me feel very confident. Any ideas for getting my money? Or even a kill fee? |
| Marie | Posted 7/11/2007 12:32:45 AM | show profile I'd call someone in the business office at CN and ask what arrangements are being made for people under contract to Jane for specific assignments that, obviously, can't run. I think you'd get at least a kill fee, legally, I'd think you'd have to, but the company should actually pay you the full fee, as the pieces were in a sense "killed" through no fault of your own. |
| hawkmail | Posted 7/11/2007 2:05:32 AM | show profile I would be calling Chuck Townsend's office directly. Get his assistant and explain that your situation. I think if you go right to the top you'll get paid. It's not as if this was a start up where there is no money anywhere to pay you, it just needs to be moved around. I'm sure the printers and fulfillment vendors are still getting paid, right? Good luck. |
| seeattleme | Posted 7/11/2007 4:08:10 AM | show profile Yeah, I would call the business office. If you don't hear within the week, file small claims. do it now. you can always show up at the court date and tell the judge it was paid, but if you wait too long to file, you could be stiffed. And youwant to be first in line in case there is a problem. I have a feeling it could be a LONG line. |
