Over a year ago, I applied for a job at a major publishing company--interviewed twice, didn't get it. The hiring manager seemed to like me, but he said that I didn't have as much experience as the girl they eventually hired. I happen to know that this particular girl has now left the position to work as a waitress, of all things (she's a friend of a friend, which is how I know this). I saved the business card of the hiring manager, and I'm still interested in the job. Over the past year, while applying for jobs, I've been temping and interning, which hopefully gives me some experience. I was wondering, would it seem totally random/ weird if I resubmitted my resume to him? Or should I just go ahead and re-apply for the job?

I'd send him a note to jog his memory, and let him know exactly what you said here, that you really enjoyed meeting with him and went to second round and at the time did not have enough experience....then sell yourself, let him know what you have now for experience that would be of interest and how it could benefit him and the company.

Good luck!
