Be careful of so-called fashion/beauty writers requesting complimentary stays at luxury resorts. We were taken advantage of by one who bounces back and forth between fashion publicist and fashion writer for titles such as US Weekly. She is NY-based and prefers locations such as St-Barths and goes under VH.

report her to ASME. write to the Columbia Journalism Review. write to her editors.
Nothing pisses me off more than a journalist who crosses the first ethics line of taking freebies and then refuses to "deliver".

Disgusted, get an assignment letter before lining up luxury stays. At least then you'll have a fairly good idea of who's genuinely willing and able to compromise journalism ethics for you.

why not have the journalist just submit the piece beforehand?
