I'd like to make myself more marketable (I have business experience and the basic MS Office) and learn HTML, Dreamweaver etc. I find myself drawn to copywriting & copyediting. My question is this type of work only applicable to the publishing world? Is there a market for copywriting/copyediting in entertainment? Like web copy? Or doing marketing copy for production companies? I need to take some classes to begin with, but I just wondered what possibilities there were for this (I'm in LA). Any advice is appreciated. Thanks. |
| marianna | Posted 7/15/2007 11:06:33 PM | show profile Check out the job descriptions at www.showbizjobs.com All the big entertainment companies post here. Most of the "writing" jobs (apart from script writing) are in PR and marketing; some classes will probably be helpful, though lots of people are-self taught or work their way up in PR agencies that cater to the movie biz. Also consider advertising; there are some good copywriting "night schools" in LA that cater to people already working at ad firms, usually biz people like yourself who want to write. If you're interested in this, email me at mariannadupont@aol.com and I can get you contact info for the ad stuff. Good luck! |
