| bettyxyz | Posted 7/14/2007 4:06:50 PM | show profile I have been out of college for 6 years and am on my second job on staff at a magazine. I have held positions as associate editor and now an assisant editor (layed of from first job out of school) and I am ready for a change. The magazines I have worked on (trade and, now, an association pub) are just so boring. I am just not feeling it and the work is not rewarding to me. I was wondering if anyone had advice for what the next step should be to kind of transition out of the low-paying publishing jobs? I do enjoy going to the theatre the performing arts. Can anyone give insight on what it's like to do PR orsomething media-related for the performing arts industry? What do you do? What's a typical day like? Is the work rewarding? I am ready for a change but am uncertain of the next step. |

| UrbanMuse | Posted 7/16/2007 9:11:22 AM | show profile | email poster I went in the opposite direction (arts PR job not to publishing, but copywriting). I loved working for an arts organization, but found it incredibly hard to live on a non-profit salary! Plus, my job required a lot of unpaid overtime on evenings and weekends, but not all organizations are like that. Feel free to email me for more info. ------ www.UrbanMuseWriter.com |
