This time, however I am charging by the day on fees plus expenses. What should I do about the 2x nights I am staying over for a client? What is usual in this case? Thx! Martine |

In other words, I generally charge my clients more for work that will require me to stay away from home, but then I don't separately/explicitly bill them for the hours I'm there overnight. I think this is probably the more palatable solution to clients. They can justify to themselves paying more for work that is an inconvenience to the vendor, but they can't justify paying a vendor to sit in a hotel room overnight. If I think the day rate is going to be a problem, I usually try to have a verbal conversation just to let them know that I charge more for work that requires travel. I hope this helps. |
