Topic: Carpal tunnel? Possible collaboration?

| lbdinterest | Posted 7/17/2007 3:40:13 AM | show profile | email poster I would like to find another writer, or writers, to try something and -- if it works -- write together, about it. It's about carpal tunnel syndrome, or strained muscles or whatever, from typing (oops, 'keyboarding'). I don't get this too often -- because I don't do as much of that as I should -- but when I do, I seem to know how to get over it. I'd like to find someone (or several 'someones') who has carpal tunnel-type problems. And I'd like to see whether, if you follow my 'protocol' -- if it works for you. And if it does work, I'd like for us to write about the whole thing-- and submit to a magazine as a joint venture. There are 3 or 4 things that I apply, or take, or use. One of them is a nifty hand-and-arm exerciser. I don't sell them and I have no connection of any kind. You'll have to buy your own, but they are available in various places -- a few drugstores, and of course, over the internet. They seem to be about $35, not cheap (by my standards). As background: my (grown) daughter hurt her hand, quite badly. After 6 months had gone by, it was still swelling from time to time, and still causing her pain. One of her fingers, previously, was stiff and would only bend partway. Parts of her job required very fine work (microelectronics prototypes), and her hand was a big problem. Her boss was getting seriously annoyed. At my suggestion, she added this exerciser to her regime -- (plus one more health-food-store supplement; again, nothing scary). After a few months of the added exercise-plus-supplement had gone by, she regained (and still has) perfect use of that hand. It's as though nothing had happened. I have to admit, I was astonished. I definitely give the hand exerciser credit for some of this. (Maybe they would buy a P.R.-oriented article?) But not 100% of the credit. And FWIW, her co-workers thought the device was really cool. So it can be a 'desk toy' too . . . If anyone is interested, I'll lay out the rest of what I do privately. And are there other questions right now? It seems that I always forget about half of the logic, or explanation, when I'm trying to tell or ask something. So when you tell me what I've left out, please try to be nice. This is the first time I'm posting here. Thanks -- |
| mailbag | Posted 7/17/2007 9:16:27 AM | show profile | email poster This is interesting. I don't hear much about it anymore. I do hear about some emerging finger(s) issue due to the blackberry syndrome (you know... big fingers trying to type on a midget keypad?) Don't know what they've called it though. |
