Today the National Petroleum Council presented a summary of it's global oil and gas study. Even they indicated we'd need (among many many other actions) a doubling of vehicle fuel economy by 2030, and it is certainly achievable. What an enviable position to be in, an industry that confidently calls for consumers to reduce use of it's product, knowing full well they'll be sitting pretty regardless.

One huge flaw in the study is that they didn't seriously question OPEC oil reserves (and OPEC's willingness to quickly deplete their reserves).

Anyway, it's an interesting study... the full report will be available on NPC's website soon.
