And when I realized I could be a writer for a living, that was a big one. 2. What song is playing in your head right now? Respect Yourself. (Na, na, na, na.) 3. What is the longest period of time you have gone without a shower/bath? Two weeks. We lived without facilities, in the rainy season with a dug latrine, in a tent. During the school year. Sigh. 4. Who would you like to bitch slap? Adolf Hitler. 5. Have you ever done anything gross to someone's food? No. 6. Are you wearing any jewelry right now? Wedding ring, turquoise bracelet. 7. What is the best bumper sticker you have ever seen? It's easier to build strong children than to repair broken men. 8. Do you know someone that absolutely despises you? Yes. 9. Do you carry a good luck charm or talisman? Kind of. It's a piece of beach glass. It remind me of the ocean and family and many good things. 10. "Sunshine of Your Love". Eric guitar riffs are classic, of course, but it's Ginger Baker's tom-tom drummin' I'm lovin' at the moment. Also "Smiling Faces Sometimes" (The Undisputed Truth version.) 3. What is the longest period of time you have gone without a shower/bath? About a week rafting the Salmon River. Unless falling in the river counts. 4. Who would you like to bitch slap? I don't bitch slap, but there are a few I wouldn't mind smacking upside the head. 5. Have you ever done anything gross to someone's food? Nope. 6. Are you wearing any jewelry right now? What song is playing in your head right now? Circus music. Seriously. Don't know where it came from or why it won't get out of my head! 3. What is the longest period of time you have gone without a shower/bath? 2 days with the awful norovirus where I couldn't move except to dry heave. 4. Who would you like to bitch slap? George Bush, my former boss, and Britney Spears. And Dick Cheney. And, right now, all the idiots who feed the trolls on the TV section on this board. Seriously- give it a rest. ALL of you. 5. Have you ever done anything gross to someone's food? nope 6. Are you wearing any jewelry right now? wedding band, engagement ring and an opal and tanzanite ring. 7. What is the best bumper sticker you have ever seen? Maybe it's not the best, but one that comes to mind is "Somewhere in Texas, a village is missing its idiot" 8. I'm eternally curious about other people and read and re-read everyone's answers. I find myself laughing out loud at many responses, and occasionally getting a little choked up at the honesty that is revealed here. It has been wonderful! As always, I will jump in and respond to my own ponderings. 1. Have you ever had an epiphany? Yup, like Groove, I realized I am not in love with my significant other. No excuses, just time to move on as painful and scary as it will be. 2. What song is playing in your head right now? Fergie's Big Girls Don't Cry, which is a song I hate. 3. What is the longest period of time you have gone without a shower/bath? Two days and it was gross. I looked like Medusa on crack. 4. Who would you like to bitch slap? Quite frankly, myself at the moment. 5. Have you ever done anything gross to someone's food? I licked someone's bacon when I was making their BLT, which is weird because I am a vegetarian. 6. Are you wearing any jewelry right now? Five silver bangle bracelets; a red jasper bead bracelet for protection, and my St. Brigid's silver cross necklace. 7. What is the best bumper sticker you have ever seen? "The Only Bush I Trust Is My Own." 8. Do you know someone that absolutely despises you? Fortunately, no. 9. Do you carry a good luck charm or talisman? I carry a silver angel medalian with the word "Hope" etched on it. I also have a necklace from which hangs a vial filled with a few strands of fur and a few baby teeth from all of the pets I have loved and lost. 10. What is the most courageous thing you have done this month? Said no when asked to do something I did not want to do. ~Bonus Question~ What is the most embarrassing item you own? It would only be embarassing if it were found, but it would have to be my trusted vibrator. That, and my ABBA Greatest Hits CD. |

Have you ever had an epiphany? i'd say a few. most recent: i should stop telling people i intend to do something for them, and instead do it without having said anything. that way, when i do it, they'll be happily surprised; and if i don't get to it, they won't feel let down. seems like a small thing--but it has taken me this long in life to figure it out. 2. What song is playing in your head right now? two have been for the past few days: "nightswimming" by r.e.m. and "better be home soon" by crowded house (just saw them give a surprise a few nights ago...at a masonic lodge!) 3. I'm listening to a jazz station right now, but if I weren't, I bet I'd have one of the songs from Icky Thump playing in my head right now. 3. What is the longest period of time you have gone without a shower/bath? Hmmm, I think it was about a week, post-Hurricane Hugo in 1989. I had evacuated from Charleston and my parents' house had well water...but the electric pump was out thanks to the power being out...so no water for showers/baths! 4. Who would you like to bitch slap? George Bush (I know, I have to get in line...), all the folks in charge of the morning shows on ABC, NBC, CBS (don't they know we're not all wealthy white Baby Boomers?) 5. Have you ever done anything gross to someone's food? Not that I recall... 6. Are you wearing any jewelry right now? Wedding band, engagement ring 7. | pamelabeth | Posted – 7/25/2007 11:36:56 AM | show profile | email poster sorry to say... ...i have a new "most courageous thing" for this month: walked home from the subway at night after having been followed and grabbed during that same walk (late at night) earlier in the week. i noticed guy following me; tried to lose him; thought i'd succeeded, but then he appeared behind me again, on dark and empty street; started to run at me; grabbed my dress; i screamed and for some reason, he kept running. i last saw him trotting down a street one block from my home. the police were utterly unconcerned--after all, i had "not been hurt." coulda been so much worse, i know; but i still live here, still have to get home from the train. i refuse to live in fear or take constant cabs; just making sure to stay alert and take as many precautions as i can. be alert, everyone. with global concerns, money concerns, whatever concerns we have, we still have to be careful about the day-to-day... |

Do you have safer streets you can walk on other than dark and lonely? Was it the same guy both times? Is there anyone you can have walk with you late at night? Do you have to travel alone late at night, or are you able to alter your time? I want to make clear these questions are not blaming the victim, but thinking of alternatives so the next time (if there is one) won't be worse. As for the police, I would have gotten names and badge numbers of the cops who blew it off, for the record. |

What is the longest period of time you have gone without a shower/bath? 8 days, when I hiked down to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, but went swimming in the river down there every day, so I suppose it's not the same. 4. Who would you like to bitch slap? Nancy Grace. Never watched her show, but saw a clip of it the other day and was appalled by everything about her. 5. Have you ever done anything gross to someone's food? Nope. 6. Are you wearing any jewelry right now? Wedding ring, and necklace from Anthrapologie. (sp) 7.
