Topic: More on Thank-You Notes

My recent experience says hand-written works! I just landed a lucrative copywriting contract. I interviewed on Tuesday for the job and I felt the the interviewer and I really clicked. She said she was hoping to make a decision by Thursday. I wanted to make sure she got my note on time, so instead of mailing it, I hand-delivered in on Wednesday (it's not too far from where I live, and I had to be in the area anyway). Yesterday, I found out that I got the job, and the HR rep said that the woman who interviewed me was really impressed with my note, because I was the only one who bothered to give her a thank-you card. I was in the running for a position at another company, too, and I had a second interview there earlier this week. When I went in, there was the thank-you card I had written, propped up on the interviewer's desk. You can't do that with an email! A quick thank-you email is a fine first step, but I would definitely follow up with a hand-written card. In my experience, that's what gets you rememebered. ------ www.adventuresofastera.blogspot.com |
