| LeoK | Posted 7/29/2007 5:29:23 PM | show profile | email poster Hi, I'm having some trouble finding publications and sites that target college students and recent grads (that will also pay). I have a few freelance web writing gigs for other markets but I'd love to write for this niche. Thanks for your suggestions. |
| webtastic | Posted 7/30/2007 1:32:08 AM | show profile Try pitching CO-ED magazine. |
| gonzo_freelancer | Posted 7/30/2007 8:51:53 AM | show profile If sports are your thing Sports Illustrated puts out something called SI On Campus. |
| D_S | Posted 7/31/2007 5:53:54 AM | show profile Next Step, Circle K, and Campus Life are some of the markets catering to the collegiate. Also see U.25 and CoEd(although I wouldn't recommend these pubs) |
| UrbanMuse | Posted 7/31/2007 8:50:02 AM | show profile | email poster Gradspot.com posted on the job section of Ed2010 a few days ago. My submission was rejected because I'm not a 2007 or 2008 grad, but I don't know your situation. ------ www.UrbanMuseWriter.com |
| UrbanMuse | Posted 7/31/2007 8:52:17 AM | show profile Also try Experience.com I've written several career-related pieces for them. |
| LeoK | Posted 7/31/2007 3:26:33 PM | show profile | email poster Thanks for the advice. I also pitched to gradspot.com but am not as recent a grad as they would like. I'll try the other pubs and web sites too. |
| WritingEd | Posted 7/31/2007 4:52:08 PM | show profile | email poster Q for UrbanMuse It sounds like Experience.com has been a good market for you. Can you share any info about their pay rates? I have enabled my email in case you want to respond off-board (please let me know if you do so I can look out for a response). Thanks! |
| aj | Posted 7/31/2007 6:02:28 PM | show profile Send your resume to MakingItinthecity.com along with a short cover. We're revving up for a big redesign with new features and will likely be hiring a few good stringers and bringing on city board moderators. |
| UrbanMuse | Posted 7/31/2007 6:38:26 PM | show profile | email poster WritingEd, check your email I'm contacting you off the bulletin board. :) ------ www.UrbanMuseWriter.com |
| D_S | Posted 7/31/2007 10:46:06 PM | show profile Community College Week is also an outlet for you. I have information that College News, formerly a regional pub, is going national with their premier issue appearing in August. There's a custom pub - Career World- that caters to the high schoolers, but they run career-related stuff, so again a potential market. Other than that, the mainstream teen mags are worth looking into when you have more experience. |
