I tried sites such as: http://www.revolutionhealth.com/insurance/shop/apply-for-insurance But I didn't hear back from the provider I'd requested a quote from, so that's not foolproof. Then I contacted an insurance broker in my state who handles my sister-in-law's small business insurance needs. Although small business was her specialty, she was able to guide me through the options for individual insurance -- pros and cons of having a family policy vs. indiviual policies, HSA vs. PPO, and so on. I ended up going with a fairly low-cost Bluecross plan (<$350) for the major medical coverage. Presuming that's approved, that means we'll be paying mostly out of pocket for everything; but until I know what my income stream will be, I don't want to risk higher insurance bills for our relatively healthy family. Hope this helps! |
