Hilary Clinton is obviously going to win the democrat nomination although she is female she's still white. America has over 200 million whites and they will NEVER have a black president. I think Hilary may have a chance a the white house though.

Obviously? There's seven months to go and they've barely taken off the gloves.
Mag Girl Posted – 8/1/2007 3:30:15 PM | show profile
Mr. Media, I find it offensive that you said that the 200 million whites will NEVER have a black president. While there are racist folks out there, what makes you think every single white person, or even a majority, thinks so ill of black people that we would never elect one as president?

And I believe the media-anointed front runner in presidential elections at this point in the pre-primary season is hardly a shoo-in.

Mr. Media?

Funny, I did not realize you have been elected to speak for ALL white Americans; I must have missed THAT election....

I AM a middle-aged WHITE woman and I WILL be voting for Obama. Hillary, in my op, is a second choice.

So, no matter, America will have a white woman or a black man at the helm next go round...unless, of course, the pubs steal the election once again. And it wouldn't surprise me if they did, but then we would officially be under a dictatorship since voting would be just something to humor the public into thinking they actually elected a president.

And if people ONLY apparently vote for someone in the same demographic group as themselves, then Hillary shouldn't win "although" she's a woman; her gender should put her at a distinct advantage with the majority of the electorate, which is female.

>>Hilary Clinton is obviously going to win the democrat nomination although she is female she's still white. <<

Yes, Hillary Clinton is still white. She has never tried to be anything except white, and she probably always will be white.

>>America has over 200 million whites and they will NEVER have a black president.<<

No, whoever America elects to be president will be president of *all* the people, not of black people or white people.

One thing is 100% certain. The state of our country is so desperate, and bungled so badly by that terribly incompetent good old boy, that I believe (hope) that we will elect the most qualified and competent person who we believe can take our country in a better direction. Whoever is elected, he or she should know that he/she was elected because we expect/need results. I don't believe that anyone, at this point in history, is going to vote for someone based primarily on the color of his/her skin or the shape of his/her genitals. And I for one think there's a pretty good chance that person will be black or a woman.

You know this has been the most revealing season for candidates. With so many forums - from blogs to events no one will escape untarnished. Mitt Romney and the war shy five son opera is hilarious. Jon Stewart did a brilliant piece on them last night. John McCain is still living beneath ground in a pothole in Vietnam - Gulliani is a wack job - Hillary a farce - Edwards thinks he's selling fabric softner - Richardson hasn't met to many gays - Obama looks unsteady - Fred Thompson's in reruns - Jesus is gunning for Brombeck and Tencredo will be run over by a van full of apple pickers.

Let's call a spade a spade here ...
The only thing Obama's got going for him is that he's black and articulate.

He's woefully inexperienced, cocky, naive, and has no substantive platform. But as the beneficiary of our politically correct times, he doesn't HAVE to; all his supporters need do is play the "racist" card when anyone calls him on his many shortcomings.

It's a great time to be a black candidate in America!

I think both Obama and Hilary have no chance of winning. I sincerely hope neither make it past the primary elections.

Aside from people not voting for him because he's black, many people, including my own mother, think he's Muslim. Black and Muslim isn't going to turn on the Red States. (Yes, I know he's not, but perception here is the problem.)

Hilary has so much backlash against her I'm not sure even she with her tenacity can overcome it. She's a mouthy woman/feminist and the Red States don't like that either.

At this point, Edwards looks like he has a prayer, which is why Fox News is trying to destroy him with $500 haircut stories.

My prediction (my dream)...Clinton and Obama run on the same ticket. Clinton as pres, Obama as vice pres. Then, after eight years, Obama becomes pres...

I propose Clinton as pres because I don't think she could take a back seat to anyone, and Obama is still new. This will give him more experience and more of a chance to win-over all the racists with his charmliness, strategery and smarts. (I'm an idealist.)

However, I will probably vote for Obama instead of Clinton in the demo nom.

The ticket in all probability will be Clinton and Edwards.

This thread is so idiotic I thought I'd stumbled into the TV News section again.

Rumor has it there's an unusual third-party candidate in the works. He (or she--it'll be hard to tell behind all the whiteface) is a mime, the idea being that s/he relies only on the eloquence of gesture to define the platform. No words to be held accountable to, no hot air to contribute to global warming. Just motions in empty space. Lovely. Maybe Teller will be the running mate.

Manhattan, I think your "call a spade a spade" criticism is unfair. Tell me, how "qualified" was Jimmy Carter when he won the presidency? He was Governor for 4 years before he announced his candidacy for president. How capable was Little George when he won the presidency? I'm not saying he's necessarily the best candidate right now (I don't know who is), but I don't think it's fair to say he's only a contender because he's black and articulate.

Carter is an intelligent caring individual - Bush, the worst president in history.

Crimedog, I agree with you 100% on that.

Am I the only one who found Kucinich's replies by far the best of all the candidate. Seriously, go listen to his replies. He didn't mince any words. He answered every question directly and honestly. Nothing he said was "polled" for its effectiveness. He was very clear (pull out of NAFTA and the WTO immediately and replace it with trade policies that require environmental and wage considerations, single-payer non-profit health care) and he got the most applause. Whether you agree with him or not, he was the only one up there whose made it crystal clear what his policies would be. I have no doubt in his convictions, unlike the rest of them.

Right now I am conflicted on whether I should vote for the Democrat on a "lesser of two evils" or to abstain and let the momentum of society choose between gradual decline or rapid decline. Neo-conservatives and Neo-liberals have identical trade policies and their foreign policies aren't much different. Remember that Clinton escalated Bush Sr.'s Somalia incursion. Look where Somalia is today. Same goes for Haiti. The labor unions are to Democrats what the Jesus freaks are to Republicans -- give them lip service for their support, but don't do much for them.

Reminds me of a bumper sticker I saw: "Better behave yourself or America will bring democracy to your country." (Or something to that effect.)

PS: Rupert Murdoch is throwing a majority of his financial support to Democrats.

PPS: Go to opensecrets.org and see who gives money to the Democrats:

CLINTON:
http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/contrib.asp?CID=N00000019&cycle=2006
(Gee, no wonder why she abstained from making a stand against the Bankruptcy Reform Bill!!)

OBAMA:
http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/contrib.asp?id=N00009638&cycle=2008
(Pretty similar to Clinton, mister "son of an immigrant goat herder" as he often reminds us -- "Thank you for your support, JP Morgan, I won't forget this!")

KUCINICH:
http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/contrib.asp?CID=N00003572&cycle=2006
(No wonder why he wants to protect American jobs!)

Carter's presidency was undermined by the ascension of the Reagenites who were willing to commit treasonous acts with Iran to steal the office.

Aren't you from Toronto?
Mr. Media, you have posted over on the Toronto Media Bistro site, about how difficult it is to get a job in the Toronto Media.

Why rant about the Americans?

Just wondering.

Don't assume, that all white Americans would NOT elect a Black President. Because I am a white, female American, living in Toronto. And i have NO PROBLEM with Obama.

BTW, did you know there are 500,000 Yankees living in the Toronto area?

Play nice, don't start the War of 1812 all over again.

Manhattan Matt, you ARE a racist
Just using the phrase "playing the racist card" outs you as a racist. I'm not really sure what that even means, but that phrase is uttered from beneath white hoods. See? Racism is alive and well, even the hip, democratic bastion that is NYC. Hallelulah.

And "woefully" inexperienced? An elected official for 11 years, a community organizer for over 20 years, Harvard Law. He's as woefully inexperienced as George W. Bush was woefully unconnected. But I guess running oil companies into the ground and getting bailed out by your rich father sure prepares one for the presidency. Too bad George Sr. can't get a buyer for Iraq.

Is Hillary more experienced? Yes. Will I vote for her? Maybe. But let's call a spade a spade, Manhattan Matt is either woefully uninformed or WOEFULLY republican.
